Rothiemurchus Lodge Goes from Strength to Strength: A New Chapter in the Cairngorms

From an uncertain future to a renewed sense of purpose, Rothiemurchus Lodge has a story worth celebrating.

We were delighted to see Rothiemurchus Lodge featured in the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald, recognising the positive progress made following the Ministry of Defence's decision to withdraw from the Lodge.

For generations, Rothiemurchus Lodge has welcomed members of the Armed Forces to the heart of the Cairngorms, providing an affordable base for rest, recreation and outdoor adventure. When its future became uncertain, the determination to preserve this much-loved facility helped pave the way for a new chapter.

Today, operating as an independent Scottish charity, Rothiemurchus Lodge continues to support military personnel, veterans and their families while extending its welcome to schools, youth organisations, charities and outdoor education groups.

Building on Our Heritage

The newspaper feature highlights the Lodge's growing momentum, including the development of new partnerships and the continued support of the wider community.

With accommodation for over 100 guests, the Lodge remains an affordable base for exploring the Cairngorms National Park near Aviemore, offering opportunities for adventure, learning and connection in one of Scotland's most beautiful landscapes.

Our ambitions extend beyond providing accommodation. By strengthening relationships with local businesses, outdoor activity providers and charitable organisations, we hope to create more opportunities for the communities we serve.

We are grateful to the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald for sharing our journey, and to everyone whose commitment and encouragement continue to shape our future.
