Rothiemurchus Lodge Open Day: Celebrating Partnerships and a New Chapter

Rothiemurchus Lodge welcomed representatives from across Scotland's Armed Forces, veterans' charities, emergency services and outdoor education sectors for a successful Open Day in September 2026, celebrating the charity's renewed vision and future development.

Set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park near Aviemore, the Lodge has a long history of providing affordable accommodation for military personnel, veterans and their families. Today, its doors are also open to schools, youth organisations, charities and outdoor adventure groups.

The event brought together an inspiring network of supporters, including Jamie Hepburn MSP, Minister for Parliamentary Business and Veterans, alongside representatives from Veterans Housing Scotland, the Royal Naval Association, the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, Army Welfare Service, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and serving personnel from across the Armed Forces.

The day provided valuable opportunities to strengthen existing relationships, explore new partnerships and share the Lodge's vision for the future.

Guests also heard about ongoing improvements, including the development of Castle Lodge, which will offer self-contained accommodation particularly suited to families seeking privacy, respite and a peaceful Highland retreat.

Our thanks go to everyone who joined us and to the Gordonstoun catering team for their wonderful hospitality.

As Rothiemurchus Lodge continues to develop, our mission remains clear: to provide welcoming, affordable accommodation in the Cairngorms while supporting the Armed Forces community and expanding opportunities for education, outdoor adventure and charitable partnerships.
